A variety of voices from very different parts of the church all giving us an insight into their hopes, dreams, predictions and passions for the future direction of the Jersey church.

We are very pleased to tell you about our new CHOW series: "The Future of the Church in Jersey"

What will this series include?
The series is a variety of voices from very different parts of the church all giving us an insight into their hopes, dreams, predictions and passions for the future direction of the Jersey church.

What is the aim of this series?
Every individual church has its own vision for the future – there are some brilliant and inspiring projects taking place in many different Christian communities. What we are hoping to spend the next few weeks discerning together is 'What is the Spirit of God saying to the whole church here in our island?' Are their common themes and modes of thinking about the way forward that could give us a glimpse into a brave new age for the Jersey church? Are their ways that we can inspire each other to think differently? Is there such a thing as a unified Christian vision for a whole nation?

Who will take part?
As always at CHOW, discussion will be a key part of each session, so all will have the chance to have their say - all speakers are prepared to be challeged by people who disagree. Here is the schedule:

Weds 30th April: Gavin Ashendon – Vicar of Gouray: Reuniting the great traditions
Weds 7th May: Tony Morling – Minister of St Helier Methodist Centre: Seeking justice and an ancient future
Weds 14th May: Simon Nash – Business Connect: An "Anabaptist" perspective- rediscovering the revolutionary message of Jesus
Weds 21st May: Gerry Boudains – Rector of St Martin: A progressive and socially engaged church
Weds 28th May: A View from Outside – a panel of atheists, sceptics and ex-Christians help us to see it from the perspective of more than 90% of the population
Weds 4th June: Bob Key – Dean of Jersey: The church that exists for its non-members – taking the gospel into today's world
Weds 11th June: Leaders of the future – a panel of emerging Christian leaders discuss the things that they hope will define their leadership in the future. (Including leaders from Freedom Church)

We may get to the end of this schedule and decide there is more to be said – for example I am aware that this schedule does not include a Catholic perspective – There are also many brilliant leaders with much to say that we haven't had been able to include, but we think this is a good start. If you have something that you would like to add or if you would like to nominate someone else to be a part of the series please do get in touch.

Who can come?
Anyone and everyone – please spread the word

Hope to see you next week as we kick off with Gavin Ashendo
