This week at CHOW - as General Synod prepares to debate the role of women in the leadership of the Church of England - we at CHOW we are gearing up for part two of our 'Head 2 Head' series with our own debate on the same subject.

The proposition this week is: 'Christian women should not hold positions of authority in the church'

Arguing for the proposition will be David Prothero, Pastor of Jersey Baptist Church

Arguing against will be Paul Brooks, Vicar of St Paul's

The format will follow the same pattern as last time; with both speakers outlining their position in a 10 min talk before some facilitated debate and a chance for audience participation.

It’s worth noting that today’s discussion is not specifically about women Bishops (we are covering that next week!) but rather a discussion about gender roles in church leadership and the interpretation of scripture.
