Lord Stephen Green began his career with the British Government's Ministry of Overseas Development. He joined The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited in 1982 and in in June 2006 he became Group Executive Chairman of HSBC Bank plc.
In September 2010 Lord Green joined the UK Government as the Minister of State for Trade and Investment and stepped down as Group Chairman of HSBC on 3 December 2010.
