A Preview Clip from a seminar with Dr Matt Lynch

As Matt says at the start of this talk, it may seem an odd decision for those engaged in the business sector in Jersey to take time out and listen to a seminar on a section of '3000 year old agrarian law'. However, as Matt places the concept of Jubilee back into its proper contextual setting, its contemporary implications and relevance become very clear.

What kind of economic philosophy does this ancient text embrace? Is there a place in today's economic conversation for ideas that emphasise the connectedness of economic output to the condition of the environment and the need for rest and interrupted economic activity?

Dr Matt Lynch is an Old Testament scholar and the Dean of Studies at Westminster Theological Centre: You can see more about him on his profile here: http://www.wtctheology.org.uk/about/teaching-faculty

"Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; each of you is to return to your family property and to your own clan" Leviticus 25:10
